The upper Ubaye valley happily welcomes cyclists provided that they are willing to undertake the steady climb which links Barcelonnette to Les Gleizolles. From there the gradient becomes a little steeper until you arrive at St-Paul, and the route provides some beautiful viewpoints. The narrow road which leads to the hamlet of Maljasset, one of the highest inhabited villages in Europe, climbs up through the Maurin valley. It passes several picturesque hamlets such as St-Antoine and La Barge. Before long, without having encountered too much of a climb, you’ll reach the end of the world: Maljasset, at the source of the bubbling Ubaye.
