From Pietraporzio, the sixth stage starts uphill towards the picturesque Moriglione barns, San Lorenzo huts and Di Fondo hamlet. The agro-pastoral track climbs along the steep slopes of Salsas Blacias pass (2,470 m). Here again, the landscape is astonishing: the majestic Dolomites-like Rocca la Meja peak (2,830 meters) together with the picture-postcard landscape of Gardetta plateau, Italian geological heritage since 2001, really make the climb worth the effort! A scenic ride along former military tracks leads to Gardetta refuge and to the homonymous mountain pass, where the technical descent begins along the side valley of Unerzio, a wild and well-preserved little slice of heaven in the Alps. When you get to the valley floor, follow the course of the stream till Stroppo Inferiore village. From here, the last effort of the day begins with a 17-km ascent leading to Elva, an enchanting municipality at 1,670 meters scattered with hamlets, huts, chapels and treasures of art and architecture.
