A heritage to be discovered.
A past rich in history and a present that has fully invested in culture.
Saluzzo and the Lands of Monviso are now, after years of hard work, on the short-list of candidates to become the 2024 Italian Capital of Culture.
Come and discover the Occitan identity and the ancient vestiges of the Marchesato in the popular traditions, music, and art, in the castles and in the noble medieval estates. The ancient arts and crafts are handed down from generation to generation in a modern key, keeping their roots firmly intact. Here we find masters of woodwork and "anchoiers" (anchovy makers). Let yourself be enchanted by local myths and legends about these natural sites and the small villages in these lands. Immerse yourself in an exclusive selection of breath-taking landscapes as you traverse the forests, from the plains and fruit cultivation to the most rugged mountains. The lands of Monviso are a territory rich in delicious typical food, stunning art, and a culture capable of fusing with what place needs and requires.
Rare minerals such as the martiniana pyrope, a geological asset of the highest scientific and cultural value with an international reputation, are morphological components of the territories of the valleys.
The musical and linguistic identity is well defined as well. In fact, there are numerous Occitan dialects such as grapièt and pantòis, which transform everyday words into curious, fascinating and, for many, incomprehensible sounds.
Here in the Monviso Valleys we have been working for years on developing experiential tourism, with workshops, concerts, excursions, food and wine
