TrekViso - Hiking routes
The guide to outdoor trekking itineraries
The system of valleys that extends from the last strip of the Po valley, between Saluzzo and Cuneoto the peaks of over 3000 metres on the border ridges between Italy and France provides an incredible panorama of outdoor activities.
The valleys around Monviso are perfect to satisfy any demand: you can enjoy peaceful walks in the hills, refreshing excursions to alpine lakes, look forward to training explorations in natural sites or explore the culture of the valleys, make short one-day trips, or go for more demanding ascents.
The main routes, which are marked, preserved, and kept in good conditions with work carried out in synergy between public bodies, forestry workers and volunteers, constitute the real pillar of the area's trail system. These are the so-called "valley itineraries" which move in stages within each individual valley, intersecting with each other at certain key points. The possibility of linking these itineraries, at both high and low altitudes, means that hiking can be practised over long periods of the year.
All that remains for the hiker to do is to choose his or her preferred area of activity, or the itinerary they are most curious about and set off on foot to discover an area that is still unspoilt, untrodden by the flow of mass tourism, but sufficiently well equipped with infrastructures that allow visitors to easily carry out their favourite activities, stress-free.
