After the 8th September 1943, many of the young from Saluzzo took their first steps in the Resistance along these trails, leaving behind their homes and moving to the mountains.
The trails go along the Po Valley, avoiding the more dangerous roads along the valley bottom. The sanctuaries of Santa Cristina and San Bernardo Vecchio, which you come upon along the way, as well as being places of partisan memory, are also two of the most ancient places of worship in the Saluzzo area. Their location in the landscape is still very pleasant and evocative. The route starts from the centre of Verzuolo and is passable all the year round; as there is little vegetation, there are many different panoramic views.
