The Varaita Valley extends for about 70 kilometers going up from Costigliole to Colle dell’Agnello, where a panoramic road that culminates at 2744 m of the pass connects it to the French Queyras valley. The presence of the Monviso massif is a constant for the valley, which is characterized by a variety of extraordinary landscapes that alternate: from the gentle and fertile slopes of the initial stretch, to the alpine landscapes, with its green pastures and steep meadows, vast deciduous forests and pine forests of larch and stone pine. The so-called “emerald” valley has always shone in the thousand shades of green of its luxuriant vegetation.
